Cocktails around the world
Bonjour! This lovely libation was inspired by Woody Allen’s“Midnight in Paris” and found on Saveur.com. We love the hint of bubbly the sparkling wine adds at the end!
Ingredients:
  • 2 oz cognac
  • 3⁄4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3⁄4 oz simple syrup
  • 4 fresh raspberries
  • Sparkling wine to top
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker, and shake well to break down the raspberries. Strain the mixture through a fine-meshed sieve into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Top with a splash of sparking wine.
Red Sangria
Cocktails around the world
A salute to Spain, this is a crowd-pleaser. Our favorite recipe is from The Minimalist Baker and makes a whole pitcher. Whether you stir it up for a party or sip in solitary (no judgment here), this is a fun and fruity addition to your chips and salsa.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 apple, cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces
  • 1/2 orange, rind on, sliced into small pieces, large seeds removed (plus more for garnish)
  • 3 – 4 Tbsp (41 – 55 g) organic brown sugar (or 3 Tbsp (37.5 g) organic cane sugar)
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) orange juice, plus more to taste
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) brandy, plus more to taste
  • 1 750 ml bottle dry Spanish red wine
  • Ice to chill (~1 cup)
Instructions:
  • Add apples, oranges and sugar to a large pitcher and muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon for 45 seconds.
  • Add orange juice and brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds.
  • Add red wine and stir to incorporate, then taste and adjust flavor as needed. I added a bit more brandy, orange juice and brown sugar. Stir to combine.
  • Add ice and stir once more to chill. Serve as is or with a bit more ice. Garnish with orange segments (optional).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though it’s best when fresh.
Caribbean Rum Punch
Cocktails around the world
We saved the best for last. This cocktail makes you feel as if you’re basking on a beach in the Caribbean. Inspired by a resort in Turks and Caicos, Paris and Pastry created this concoction to take her back to a dreamy destination.
Ingredients
  • 3 oz fresh pineapple juice
  • 2 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz gold (or dark) rum + 1/2 ounce to pour on top
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • Grenadine
  • Lime to garnish
Instructions
Shake the pineapple juice, orange juice, gold rum, coconut rum and ice cubes together in a cocktail shaker. Pour the juice in a glass. Add a shot of grenadine and watch it sink to the bottom. Gently pour the remaining rum on top, and add a lime wedge for garnish.
