One of the best parts of summer is how easy it is to find fun things to do. With the rising temperatures come festivals, fairs and a variety of other outdoor events. We pack our schedules full of social activities to make every day of summer memorable. First up on our summer bucket list: Le Tour de Fort. For the non-Hoosiers who may be unfamiliar, Le Tour de Fort is an annual bicycling pub crawl around downtown Fort Wayne. Biking and barhopping happens to be our summer jam, so this was the perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday.
So what does one bring for seven hours of biking and cocktail sipping? First, you obviously need your bike. We hit Main Street on our Martone bike, which was quite the conversation starter. Note: Cute bikes are not required, but we’d certainly recommend it. Next, you need the right bag for all-day, bicycle-riding wear. We chose the Preppy Poly backpack for its lightweight nature, hands-free styling and fun pop colors. It’s the perfect size to fit your wallet, water bottle to stay hydrated and a few snacks to energize you during hour six. Last, you need your squad! We grabbed our best girlfriends for the day downtown. You need each other for moral support when the day drinking gets the best of you, or when you try to do a fancy bike trick and end up in the bush.
Le Tour de Fort isn’t just fun and games (although, it is a whole lot of fun) — it raises money to support Veteran-based organizations, such as K9’s for Warriors.
